EAST LONDON MAIL CENTRE, PROLOGIS PARK
East London
Michael Sparks Associates were the architects for the East London Mail Centre, built for Consignia and completed in September 2002. The 17,070 sq m (183,450 sq ft) building contains almost 2,830 sq m (30,000 sq ft) of offices, which are accommodated in three striking wave-form glazed bays facing Bow Creek, enjoying views towards Canary Wharf and the Millennium Dome. The Centre will handle most of the mail for East London, and is the second such mail processing centre that the practice has designed.
The local authority sees this, along with the neighbouring units at ProLogis Park, as a flagship for the ongoing regeneration of this part of London's East End.
